"Our current regulations remain unchanged because the situation has clearly improved in recent weeks and migration pressure has fallen significantly,” Kierwiński said in an interview with broadcaster Radio Zet.
He said that while illegal crossings typically drop in December, the recent decline has been "exceptionally large," adding that migration pressure on the Polish-Belarusian border "has eased considerably" and "the situation has stabilised."
Kierwiński told Radio Zet that Poland sees no need to adjust its policies in response to Lithuania's decision.
He also said that conditions in Lithuania differ from those in Poland, citing the presence of an airport near the Belarusian border and recent incidents involving smuggling balloons as factors behind Vilnius’ decision to declare a state of emergency.
