Those airports, in the central and eastern regions of the country, are less frequently used by passengers.

Earlier in the day, Poland scrambled aircraft and put its air defence systems on alert in response to a Russian attack on Ukraine, with the military monitoring the situation and securing airspace near the border.

At around 10:30 a.m., authorities said Polish and allied aircraft returned to base as the threat of Russian strikes on Ukraine decreased.

NATO allies, including Norway, Spain and Turkey, assisted in securing Polish skies, while German forces contributed with a Patriot system.

Ground-based air defence and radar systems have returned to normal operations, and no violations of Polish airspace were observed, according to the Operational Command of Poland's Armed Forces.
