Poland unveils voluntary military training to bolster civilian resilience

06.11.2025 10:00
Poland’s defense ministry on Thursday outlined a nationwide voluntary readiness training program to strengthen civilian resilience and state security, with a pilot this year and a full rollout in 2026.
Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said the program is tailored for everyone, offering a choice between non-combat defense training that does not require an oath and specialist military training that culminates in an oath to serve in the Polish Armed Forces.

The plan, dubbed "wGotowości" (On Standby) presented at an 8:30 a.m. briefing, includes first aid, survival, cyber hygiene and basic security. Attending were Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk, Chief of the General Staff Gen. Wiesław Kukuła and Cyber Defense Component commander Gen. Karol Molenda.

Kosiniak-Kamysz said the program is “tailored for everyone,” offering a choice between non-combat defense training that does not require an oath and specialist military training that culminates in an oath to serve in the Polish Armed Forces.

Officials said a dedicated application within the mObywatel ecosystem will guide candidates based on skills, health and age—covering seniors, adults, and youth—matching them to appropriate courses and, for those who opt in, to professional paths in uniform.

A pilot will run in November and December, with nationwide training to follow in 2026. Interested participants will receive schedules and may choose the military unit where they complete their course.
