At a conference in Prague on Friday, the British and Czech foreign ministers denied reports by German media that there was an informal agreement within NATO not to transfer Western-made heavy armaments to Ukraine.

"Those rumours are completely untrue. We are very clear it is completely legitimate to be supporting Ukraine with tanks and planes," Truss stated.

She added that the UK will continue to support countries helping Ukraine in its war with Russia.

She appreciated the actions of the Czech Republic, which supplied tanks to Ukraine, and recalled her country's support for Poland.

"We are helping Poland, specifically, who are also sending tanks to Ukraine, in terms of backfilling," Truss added.

Public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported that the UK’s chief diplomat also spoke about the need to strengthen the alliance's eastern flank and the rapid accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO. She also stressed the need to continue putting pressure on Russia through sanctions and creating a plan for rebuilding Ukraine.
