Mariusz Błaszczak and Morten Bodskov held talks in the Polish capital Warsaw, state news agency PAP reported.
At a joint news conference afterwards, Błaszczak, who is also Poland’s deputy prime minister, told the media that the discussions with the Danish defence minister had focused on “security in the Baltic Sea region, continuation of help and support for Ukraine and the strengthening of Polish-Danish military cooperation.”
Thanking Bodskov for the meeting, Poland’s defence minister added: “We’ve been cooperating for a long time and I believe that security in the Baltic Sea region is the most important issue for both our countries.”
Błaszczak also stressed that both Warsaw and Copenhagen welcomed the imminent entry of Finland and Sweden to NATO.
‘Free Ukraine means free Poland and free Europe’
He added: “We appreciate Denmark’s involvement in supporting Ukraine.”
The Polish deputy prime minister emphasised the key importance of an efficient support for war-torn Ukraine.
“A free Ukraine means a free Poland, but a free Ukraine also means a free Europe,” he said.
“Today, the Ukrainians, who are thwarting the resurrection of the Russian empire, are fighting for the freedom of the entire Europe,” Błaszczak told reporters.
He added: “We appreciate cooperation with Denmark in the NATO North-East corps in Szczecin (northwestern Poland) and are grateful for the opportunity to work together on the diversification of energy supplies.”
Monday is day 201 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
