Speaking to Polish private broadcaster Polsat News, Mosbacher said she regretted that Poland's president was not at the White House alongside US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
She suggested the responsibility lay primarily with Warsaw.
"You have a new president, only recently sworn in, with an administration still settling in. They were waiting for an invitation to the White House," she said, according to a translation aired by the station.
Mosbacher expressed hope that Poland’s new President Karol Nawrocki "will feel confident and recognize that Poland plays a crucial role in this war and maintains an independent stance," Polsat News said.
She also referred to Nawrocki’s planned visit to the United States on September 3.
"The fact that President Trump supported him during the campaign and will meet him so soon after the inauguration shows how important an ally Poland is for the US," she was cited as saying.
Mosbacher said she expected Poland’s role in the coming months to grow at the expense of other European countries, Polsat News reported.
Mosbacher, who served as US ambassador to Poland from 2018 to 2021 during Trump’s first term, is now co-chair of the Three Seas Council at the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center in Washington and remains active in Republican politics.
