The ministry described the incident as a deliberate provocation and part of a hybrid warfare campaign.
The drone, believed to have come from Belarus, exploded after possibly striking a power line and falling onto a cornfield. Witnesses reported a loud bang and flash at the time of the incident. No one was injured, but nearby buildings suffered broken windows.
The note was delivered in Warsaw and will also be translated and sent to Moscow.
“The Foreign Ministry considers the incident another deliberate provocation, part of a pattern of hybrid actions carried out by Russia. We strongly condemn any actions that pose a threat to civilian populations and aviation safety,” the ministry said in an official statement.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is demanding that Russia immediately provide explanations regarding the incident, including the circumstances and causes of the unmanned aerial vehicle appearing on Polish territory, as well as information on measures taken by Russian authorities to prevent similar situations in the future.
Poland is calling for an immediate halt to all hostile and provocative actions against its territory and stresses that Russia bears full responsibility for the consequences of such incidents.
The ministry also noted that Russia’s unfriendly actions against Poland are occurring alongside its ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine, which has caused hundreds of thousands of casualties and constitutes a blatant violation of international law and fundamental humanitarian principles.
