The visit to Poland on Sunday will include a meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Von der Leyen announced the tour following a recent Russian attack on Kyiv, saying it aims to show “full solidarity” with the countries protecting the EU’s eastern frontier and to share progress on building a “strong European defence industry.”
The trip will begin on Friday in Latvia, followed by Finland, where the president will meet the country’s president and prime minister.
On Saturday, Estonia will be the next stop, before travelling to Poland on Sunday.
In Poland, the programme includes a meeting with Prime Minister Tusk and a visit to the border with Belarus to inspect fortifications and monitoring systems.
The tour will then continue to Bulgaria, Lithuania, and finally Romania.
Discussions during the multi-day visit will focus on strengthening defence against threats from Russia and Belarus, including reinforcing eastern border security, countering maritime threats, and advancing European military capabilities.
