Kowal, a member of the pro-European centrist Civic Coalition party, said public figures who amplify messages aligned with Kremlin propaganda should be called out.

“I am not identifying a ‘Russian party,’ I focus on who shares content consistent with Kremlin propaganda,” he said on Tuesday in an interview with Polish Radio journalist Renata Grochal.

“This includes the group Kamraci, a nationalist circle, MEP Grzegorz Braun from the far-right Confederation party, and former Prime Minister Leszek Miller of the Democratic Left Association (SLD) – and that is not the end.”

The politician also criticised media outlets that, in his view, provide a platform for such politicians, promoting their views through elite social or “salon” conversations.

On the issue of prosecuting Braun, Kowal stressed that politicians should not interfere with the justice system, which must remain independent.

However, he expressed confidence that under Justice Minister Żurek, the judiciary would act decisively.
