The head of Polish government is accompanied by Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański, who is helping organise a global conference on the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
Tusk arrived at Kyiv’s railway station shortly before 8 a.m., according to the Prime Minister’s Office, which posted a photograph of the Polish delegation being welcomed by Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha.
Piotr Łukasiewicz, Poland’s chargé d’affaires in Kyiv, was also present at the meeting.
„Important visit of a true friend. Poland is a leader in supporting Ukraine, including energy assistance. We value this solidarity and our strategic partnership. We look forward to an impactful visit and meaningful talks with President Zelensky,” Sybiha assured on X.
Earlier this week, Tusk indicated that Poland aims to take part in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction, planning major investments and development projects once hostilities end or a ceasefire is agreed.
The visit comes amid intensified Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which have left many areas without electricity and heating during severe winter conditions.
Tusk criticised unfulfilled promises allegedly made by Russian president Vladimir Putin to suspend attacks during the coldest months.
The politician noted that recent strikes continued to target civilians and civilian infrastructure in Kyiv, Odesa and other parts of Ukraine, resulting in further casualties and destruction.
Poland's Prime Minister announced the planned trip on Monday evening via social media, stating that he would visit Kyiv in the coming days at the invitation of Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, and emphasising that Ukraine cannot be left unsupported at this critical time.
During Thursday’s visit in Kyiv, Tusk, together with Zelensky, laid flowers at the Wall of Remembrance for those who died defending Ukraine.

The Polish prime minister is also scheduled to meet Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
Tribute was also paid to Polish victims of Russian crimes in Bykivnia, near Kyiv, where thousands were executed and buried by the Soviets during the Stalinist purges.
