Polish firefighters and police end their support mission in Turkey and return to Poland this Sunday. Over the past days they have been part of the efforts to contain wildfires in the province of Mugla in the south of the country.
Poland had sent a support team of 8 police officers and 6 firefighters, the crew of a Black Hawk helicopter, equipped with tanks for dropping water to help put out extensive fires in remote areas.
For the last time, the helicopter was employed in action on Saturday morning, as Grzegorz Trzeciak from the State Fire Department Headquarters in Warsaw told Polish Radio's IAR news agency. Over 2 hours, 17 water drops were carried out before the team wound up work.
Another group of Polish firefighters remains in Greece.
