“Poles have the right to say that they suffered exceptionally during World War II,” said Karol Nawrocki during his Sunday visit to Gdańsk, adding that 16–17 percent of Poles lost their lives during this conflict.
Responding to Nawrocki’s words, Radosław Sikorski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, assured via social media:
“Of course they do, and no one disputes that. May the rest of the political right, following President Nawrocki, also acknowledge that Polish Jews were Poles, albeit of a different faith.”
The President of Poland, during his Sunday visit to the Baltic port city of Gdańsk, laid a wreath at the monument of Captain Witold Pilecki and visited the Museum of the Second World War, where he was formerly director.
