US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will host the October 30-31 meeting, with Poland represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.
Lavrov will lead the Russian delegation, foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday, according to the Reuters news agency.
Zakharova said the meeting would include discussions of a broad range of geopolitical challenges affecting the global economy, including ongoing conflicts, Reuters reported, citing Russian state news agency Interfax.
According to a US State Department statement issued on Monday, the discussions will address geopolitical crises affecting the global economy, including threats to freedom of navigation, energy and food security, and supply chains.
"Under President Trump’s leadership, the United States is returning the G20 to its core economic mission of driving growth, strengthening economic security, and delivering results for the American people," the statement said.
The meeting is intended to lay the groundwork for the G20 leaders' summit in Miami, Florida on December 14 and 15.
Poland is taking part in this year’s G20 work as a full member, following an invitation from the United States. President Karol Nawrocki is expected to represent Poland at the leaders' summit.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said last Friday that he had been invited by British Prime Minister Andy Burnham to next year's G20 summit.
Established in 1999, the G20 brings together 19 major economies, the European Union and the African Union. Its members account for around 85 percent of global GDP and more than 75 percent of world trade.
