The EU’s executive on Thursday also estimated that Poland’s GDP expanded 4.0 percent in 2019.

The figure was in line with an estimate by Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) at the end of last month.

The Polish parliament was on Friday expected to vote on whether to accept this year's budget.

The government in December approved a balanced budget for 2020 that expects the economy to grow 3.7 percent, with inflation targeted at 2.5 percent.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said last year that the 2020 budget would be the country’s first without a deficit since the fall of communism and the start of market reforms three decades ago.

Polish Development Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz said on Thursday that Poland faced a "slight” economic slowdown this year. She added that she expected GDP growth to remain above 3 percent.
