The document was signed during the Polish-Swedish Defence Industry Forum in Warsaw, Poland's PAP news agency reported.

Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said the plan marked “an important moment" for the two countries and the wider world.

He added that since Sweden joined NATO last year, "the alliance’s activities have gained new momentum, especially in the Baltic Sea region.”

Kosiniak-Kamysz also referred to the European Union’s SAFE programme, under which Poland is set to receive nearly EUR 44 billion, the largest share among all EU members.

He stressed the need for joint defence procurements within the framework, calling Sweden “a natural partner” for Poland in this area.

Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson said Stockholm views its partnership with Warsaw as “key to the security and prosperity of the entire region.”

He also emphasised the need to boost defence production capacity across Europe, the PAP news agency reported.

Recent Polish defence acquisitions from Sweden include Saab 340 AEW early-warning aircraft and Carl-Gustaf anti-tank weapons.

Saab is also building two reconnaissance ships for the Polish navy.

In turn, Sweden’s armed forces have ordered short-range Piorun man-portable air-defence systems from Poland’s Mesko company in a deal worth 3 billion Swedish kronor (around EUR 275 million).
