The announcement came during discussions between Polish and German military aviation experts at the 23rd Tactical Air Base in Mińsk Mazowiecki (central-eastern Poland).

The base provides logistical support for military flights and monitors airspace over the Baltic countries.

Holger Neumann, Chief of the German Air Force, attended the talks, which also covered continued cooperation under NSATU, the NATO command responsible for coordinating the delivery of military equipment, ammunition, and training for Ukraine from member and partner states.

“Polish Air Forces carry the responsibility of maintaining the country’s airspace security. This places a heavy burden on our resources, pilots, technicians, and engineers. That is why it is important that our allies take part in the NSATU mission in Poland,” General Nowak said.

Polish bases have previously hosted military units from Sweden and the UK, with Australian and German forces currently stationed.

“At present, Poland hosts two German Air Force components: one in Rzeszów (southeastern Poland), operating Patriot missile systems, and another near Mińsk Mazowiecki (central-eastern Poland), flying Eurofighter fighter jets,” General Nowak added.

As part of strengthening NATO’s collective defense, five German Air Force Eurofighter EF-2000 Typhoon jets have been stationed at the 23rd Tactical Air Base in Mińsk Mazowiecki (central-eastern Poland) since August.
