Plans include modernising bridges and tunnels and building platforms for transporting tanks, enabling rapid NATO troop movements in the event of a conflict with Russia.
According to Poland’s state news agency PAP, the European Commission intends to allocate €17 billion for this purpose.
Poland is expected to receive a significant share as a key state on NATO’s eastern flank.
MEPs say the current geopolitical situation favours greater support, while Polish companies – especially the freight operator PKP Cargo - expect tangible benefits from the new funds.
