Gazprom, Kazakhstan agree to build cross-border gas pipeline

As reported last week by the Pipeline & Gas Journal - a long-established U.S.-based trade magazine focused on the global oil, gas, and pipeline industries - Russia’s state-owned energy giant Gazprom and the government of Kazakhstan have signed a memorandum to develop a new cross-border natural gas pipeline linking the two countries.

The agreement, signed during a meeting between Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar, aims to strengthen regional energy ties and meet Kazakhstan’s growing demand for natural gas.

Both sides highlighted the project’s strategic importance for energy stability and regional economic cooperation across Central and South Asia.

According to Pipeline & Gas Journal, Miller also held talks with Kyrgyzstan’s Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibrayev to review gas supply cooperation and infrastructure readiness for the upcoming winter.

In another meeting, Pakistan’s Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik and Miller discussed potential collaboration in the gas industry, including a new memorandum between Gazprom and Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Development Company Limited to explore future joint projects.
