Speaking at the “Science for Business” congress in Warsaw, Tusk urged political unity and called for a halt to domestic political infighting, stressing that the next year - free of elections - should be devoted to national security.

Tusk said modern warfare shows the growing importance of science and technology, pointing to drones, satellite systems and advanced manufacturing as key areas where Poland must invest.

Tusk outlines five security principles

The prime minister outlined five principles for political actors, including supporting the military and border services, rejecting Russian propaganda, ending legislative obstruction, backing EU and Western alignment, and maintaining unequivocal support for Ukraine.

Tusk appealed for a stop to obstruction of security-related legislation or appointments. He said Poland must maintain a clear alignment with the EU and the West.

He added that support for Ukraine’s defence against Russia must remain "unequivocal."

The three-day congress brings together researchers, businesses and policymakers to strengthen cooperation in innovation. Organisers say more than 2,000 participants from universities, research institutes and technology firms registered for the event.
