Krzystof Niemiec, deputy CEO of rail sector company Track Tec, was cited by the paper as saying that Slovaks use the train at least 13 times a year, Czechs 17 times and Germans 35 times.

The daily reported that forecasts predict 330 million passengers will travel by rail in Poland this year, up from 280 million in 2015.

Puls Biznesu added that over PLN 75 billion (EUR 17.5 billion, USD 19.3 billion) will be pumped into upgrading Poland’s rail network by 2025.

Industry managers argue such investment will prove effective if, in the future, Poland focuses not only on modernisation but also on the construction of new rail lines, the paper said.
