Formed in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, AC/DC have become one of the most influential hard rock bands in history.
They are best known for hits such as Highway to Hell, Back in Black, Thunderstruck, and You Shook Me All Night Long. Guitarist Angus Young is famous for his energetic stage presence and signature school uniform. The band’s debut album, High Voltage, was released in 1976, while Power Up from 2020 is their 17th studio record.
The album marked the return of lead singer Brian Johnson, whose powerful voice has been central to AC/DC’s sound since he joined in 1980 following the death of original frontman Bon Scott.
Health issues have at times forced changes in the lineup. Malcolm Young left the band in 2014 due to illness and passed away in 2017. Angus has described Power Up as a tribute to his late brother.
Rock royalty returns to Poland
AC/DC achieved international fame with Highway to Hell in 1979, an album that became a rock anthem and commercial success in both the United States and the UK. Their follow-up, Back in Black, recorded with Johnson, remains one of the best-selling rock albums of all time.
Over the decades, the band has maintained legendary status, earning induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. In recent years, guitarist Stevie Young, Malcolm’s nephew, has taken his uncle’s place in the lineup.
High-voltage show planned for Warsaw
Before AC/DC take the stage in Warsaw, American rock band The Pretty Reckless will perform as the opening act. After the Polish concert, AC/DC will continue their European tour with stops in Düsseldorf, Madrid, and Edinburgh, wrapping up on July 21.
Authorities in Poland’s capital have warned that access to the Saska Kępa neighborhood in Warsaw will be restricted ahead of the AC/DC concert at PGE Narodowy Stadium.
