Over 19.3 million Poles fully vaccinated for COVID-19: gov't data

Public health authorities said that 15,433 adverse reactions had been reported among those who received the vaccines by Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, a total of 454,439 doses have been wasted in the rollout, according to the Polish health ministry.

As of ThursdayPoland had injected over 19.7 million first doses of COVID-19 vaccines, while more than 19.3 million people had been fully inoculated, health ministry data showed.

The tally includes two-dose vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca as well as Johnson & Johnson's one-shot vaccine.

Poland on Thursday reported 974 new coronavirus infections and 14 more deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 2,900,862 and fatalities to 75,537.

The government on Tuesday recommended a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for healthcare workers and people over 50. Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska told reporters the booster shot would be administered at least six months after the second shot.

Earlier people with compromised immune systems were advised to receive a third dose of the vaccine.
