Mokotów district prosecutors have opened six separate inquiries into abusive content posted on Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and the forum of the news portal Onet, spokesman Piotr Antoni Skiba told Poland's PAP news agency.
"The scale of the probe is enormous," Skiba said, noting that nearly 200 complaints came from the Children's Rights Ombudsman, while others were filed by private individuals and the child’s mother, Marta Nawrocka.
The inquiries focus on public insults under Article 216 of the penal code. Prosecutors are also reviewing whether any posts qualify as criminal threats under Article 190 or incitement to commit an offense under Article 260, Skiba added.
"Some entries do not meet those criteria; the rest are being analyzed, and new reports keep arriving," he said.
On Friday, Krzysztof Szczucki, a lawmaker with the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, published a letter from the Mokotów prosecutor’s office confirming it had begun a probe following his complaint.
“I’ll make sure every hater is severely punished,” Szczucki wrote on social media.
Interest in Nawrocki’s daughter, Kasia, surged during the election-night celebration, where the lively child blew kisses, formed heart signs and danced. While many viewers found her endearing, others posted hostile comments, prompting Nawrocka to warn online that "words can hurt."
