According to Polish news outlet Onet.pl, which was the first to report on the detention by Polish security services of a long-time employee of the Ministry of National Defence, the case concerns a 60-year-old man.

The suspect is said to have worked at the ministry for more than 30 years, dating back to the 1990s.

His role was within the Department of Strategy and Defence Planning.

Investigators suspect cooperation with Russian and Belarusian intelligence services.

The Military Counterintelligence Service had reportedly monitored his activities for months, gathering evidence described by investigators as “very strong.”

Sources cited by Onet investigative journalist Jacek Harłukowicz say that at the time of the detention, both the suspect’s workplace and residence were searched, and phones, computers, and data storage devices were seized.
