The case is believed to involve collaboration with Russian espionage services.

According to Polish news outlet Onet, the man, a mid-level ministry official, was escorted from the Warsaw headquarters by Military Gendarmerie officers around 8 a.m. on 3 February 2026, following a months-long investigation during which the Military Counterintelligence Service closely monitored his activities.

“His actions have been under scrutiny for many months. Every step was meticulously documented and analysed, which is why the evidence gathered against him is very strong. This is one of our greatest successes,” reportd the national broadcaster Polish Radio, citing a source familiar with the operation whose comments were quoted by Onet.

The official is now expected to be questioned by the eighth military division of the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Janusz Sejmej, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, confirmed the detention, stating to Onet that the arrested staff member was a long-serving employee and that the case is linked to ongoing Military Counterintelligence Service operations.

He added that an official statement would be issued once the procedures are completed.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that the case is currently being handled by the Military Counterintelligence Service, in cooperation with the Department for Military Affairs of the National Procecutor's Office and the Military Gendarmerie.
