The 19-year-old Pole, ranked world No. 17 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), cruised past French player Fiona Ferro with a straight-set 6-4, 6-3 win in their third-round encounter Down Under on Friday.

The rising Polish tennis star will now face Romania's Simona Halep for a berth in the final eight at the Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne.

The Polish teenager in October won the French Open, claiming her maiden Grand Slam title and becoming the first Pole to lift a Grand Slam singles trophy.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Łukasz Kubot has advanced to the second round of the men's doubles competition in Melbourne, partnering with Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands.

The 2021 Australian Open runs until February 21.
