Polish sprinter Wiktoria Gajosz, born 2006, garnered some national and European youth honours in May - passing her high school graduation exams in the meantime. Thanks to her fantastic results, she has secured a ticket for August's U20 European Championships in Finland, where the Polish starlet will compete in the 100 meters and 200 meters races.

Wiktoria Gajosz is on a roll. In early May, during a competition in eastern Poland's Lublin, she achieved a time of 17.37 seconds in the 150 meters race - which is her new personal best, a national record in the U20 category and the second best result overall on the distance in the history of Polish track and field.

Last weekend, Gajosz sprinted for another set of honours at a meeting in eastern Poland's Biała Podlaska, this time in 200 meters run. With a result of 23.37 seconds, she achieved a new personal best - but more importantly, it was also 2025's best result in Europe in the U20 category. At the same competition, the young Polish sprinter also started in the 100 m race, where she achieved a very good time of 11.56 seconds as well.

It is worth mentioning that the 18-year old Pole did all of that somewhere in the middle of her "matura" high school graduation exams, which she's taking this year in her eastern hometown of Chełm.

Gajosz is on a meteoric rise, as she first got into the national spotlight less than 12 months ago. In August 2024, she won a silver medal in the mixed 4x400-meter relay at the U20 World Athletics Championships - also setting national U20 record in the 300 meters race (36.82) and becoming the Polish U20 champion at 400 meters (52.98) that same year. In February 2025 she continued the string of success setting the national U20 indoor record at 200 metres (23.68).
