The group included speed skaters, biathletes, figure skaters, lugers and bobsleigh competitors, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

President Karol Nawrocki, Sports Minister Jakub Rutnicki, Polish Olympic Committee (PKOl) head Radosław Piesiewicz and the Italian ambassador to Warsaw, Luca Franchetti-Pardo, attended the ceremony and congratulated the athletes.

"I am convinced you will bring home medals, and that is what I wish you with all my heart," Nawrocki told the athletes at the Polish Olympic Committee’s headquarters.

Bobsledder Klaudia Adamek, the first woman to represent Poland at both the Summer and Winter Olympics, read the oath on behalf of the athletes.

Bobsleigh coach Dawid Kupczyk took the oath for the coaches and support staff.

Officials said the remaining members of the Polish delegation will take their Olympic oaths in Italy.

Poland has selected 60 athletes— 28 men and 32 women—to compete in the Milan-Cortina Games, with entries in 12 of the 16 sports on the Olympic program.

Poland will not field competitors in ice hockey, curling, freestyle skiing and skeleton.

Three-time Olympic ski jumping champion Kamil Stoch and speed skater Natalia Czerwonka, a silver medallist at the 2014 Games, will be the flag bearers for the Polish delegation at the opening ceremonies.

The Polish Olympic delegation will also include coaches, doctors, physiotherapists, ski technicians and other support staff.

Poland sent 57 athletes to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing and a record 62 to the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Poland won one medal at the Beijing Games, finishing 27th in the medals table, alongside Latvia and Estonia.

It claimed two medals at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, placing 20th.

Poland’s best-ever Winter Olympics performance came at the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia, where it won six medals—four gold, one silver and one bronze.

The Milan-Cortina Games will take place from February 6 to 22.
