The Polish Filmmakers Association Awards were established in 2007 to reward the achievements of film professionals who have made a strong contribution to the cinema industry "but who are not in the front line like film directors or actors."
Among the seven winners this year is a makeup artist, a cinematographer, a stage designer, and the director of a Polish film festival.
"These are people who have many accomplishments ... but were never rewarded because they are kind of standing in the shadow," Jacek Bromski, the head of the Polish Filmmakers Association, told Radio Poland's Danuta Isler at the awards ceremony in Warsaw on Thursday night.
"We, filmmakers, see their efforts; we see their work and we appreciate it," he added.
