According to The Guardian, Puro, a boutique Polish hotel group, reopened its Kraków Old Town hotel in 2021 following a renovation by a local design studio.
The redesign aimed to evoke the spirit of Kraków’s interwar period, particularly the vibrant cafés and restaurants that flourished between the First and Second World Wars.
The interiors are inspired by iconic mid-century hotels such as Cracovia and Forum, as well as the still-operating Kino Kijów cinema.
Guests will find pale oak panelling, natural stone, handmade glass and ceramics, and works by local artists.
Rooms are furnished with retro radios and Bauhaus-style furniture, while the sound of trams and the lively buzz from nearby cafés add to the authentic ambience.

In addition to the Polish hotel, The Guardian also praised a 1970s hotel in western Sweden, a 17th-century palazzo in Sicily on the slopes of Mount Etna, a 1960s-style hotel in Prague, Georgian cottages in County Durham, a Tudor house in Conwy, a Cool Britannia-inspired home in Dorset, a Victorian apartment within a medieval building in Kent, and, last but not least, a wartime airfield converted into a B&B in Norfolk.
