The show, titled A Beautiful Girl Like You, presents a selection of intimate images in which Zinnemann draws on his decades of film-making experience to construct scenes that appear both carefully composed and spontaneously observed.
The photographs focus on fleeting gestures, shafts of light and brief exchanges of glances, according to organizers.
Magdalena Domaradzka, introducing the exhibition, said Zinnemann "balances a clear visual rhythm with a sense of spontaneity, portraying genuine emotions, rises and falls. This naturalness brings the scenes closer to viewers, allowing them to find their own stories within the images."
Born in Los Angeles in 1940, Tim Zinnemann spent much of his early career in Hollywood, following a path similar to his father’s.
Fred Zinnemann, born in Rzeszów, southeastern Poland, in 1907, won four Academy Awards and directed classics such as High Noon and From Here to Eternity.
Tim Zinnemann worked on productions including Bullitt (1968), The Jericho Mile (1979) and The Running Man (1987), taking on both directing and producing responsibilities.
In the 1990s he shifted his focus entirely to photography, initially working on commercial assignments and for various publications before moving towards artistic projects, which now form the core of his output.
The Rzeszów exhibition carries added resonance due to Zinnemann’s family ties to the city.
A commemorative plaque marking the birthplace of his father was unveiled in December 2023 on the city’s historic market square.
A Beautiful Girl Like You runs at the Galeria Fotografii Miasta Rzeszowa (Rzeszów City Photography Gallery) until 31 December.
