The proportion of working-age people fell to 58.2 percent of the total population, from 58.4 percent in 2023, the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

In absolute terms, that figure dropped by 151,000 to under 22 million.

Since 2010, the number of working-age Poles has declined by nearly 3 million, according to Statistics Poland.

Meanwhile, the post-working-age population rose to 23.8 percent in 2024, from 23.3 percent the previous year.

The older segment of the working-age population—roughly those over age 45—also grew, rising to 23.4 percent from 23 percent in 2023.

By contrast, the younger working-age population—those under 45—shrank to 34.8 percent, from 35.4 percent a year earlier.

From 1990 to 2014, that proportion hovered around 40 percent.
