EU’s new programs and acts discussed in Warsaw

Late last year the bloc has initiated an accelerated agenda to shift from "head-spinning" rulemaking to active deregulation, driven by intense concern over falling competitiveness vs. the United States and China.

However, the consensus quickly breaks down over how to do it with member states split over which EU laws should be simplified, which reforms should come first and which new requirements and regulations, if any, should be rolled out.

As 2026 is set to mark a new chapter for the European economy, these dilemmas were also discussed at a debate titled “Poland 2026: Horizon of Change” held in Warsaw over the weekend.
