China, hitherto guarded in statements about Russia's invasion of Ukraine, has made its clearest statement to date.
President Xi Jinping delivered an online speech before the opening of the upcoming BRICS (including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit.
During the speech he attributed the war to the "expansion of military alliances", a reference to NATO and the US.
