Under draft new legislation outlined by Michał Dworczyk at a news conference, top state officials will no longer be able to fly with their family on board government planes except in cases where their relatives are members of official delegations.

The proposed new rules seek to do away with practices whereby various officials "during the last few decades" used government planes “to fly home or from home,” Dworczyk told reporters.

The planned restrictions will not apply to flights by the president, officials said.

The initiative comes after a Polish parliamentary Speaker was forced to resign earlier this month amid a welter of criticism over trips he took with his family using government planes.

The legislation is expected to be sent to parliament for consideration later this month.
