Held since 2003, Junior Eurovision is a song competition organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) along similar lines as the Eurovision Song Contest, its older and bigger cousin. Each participating member sends in an act made up of young artists aged between 9 and 14. In the words of EBU,  the aim of the programme is "to promote young talent in the field of popular music, by encouraging competition among the [...] performers".

The winner is currently decided by 50% televote and 50% national jury vote.  The 17th edition of the Song Contest sees young performers from nineteen countries  presenting themselves at the Arena in Gliwice.

Last year's Junior Eurovision was won by Polish vocalist Roxana Węgiel. This year's entry by Wiktoria Gabor is reportedly high in the stakes.

The winner is to be announced on Sunday evening.
