The State Electoral Commission has informed that turnout in the presidential election at 17.00H stood at 52.1 %

The data is based on information from all 25 423 district electoral commissions in Poland. Chairman of the State Electoral Commission Sylwester Marciniak told a press conference that there were 29 359 152 people with the right to vote in Poland. 15 295 512 voting cards have been issued - what constitutes 52.1 % of the total number of voters with rights to take part in the election.

Two weeks ago, in the first round, turnout at 5 pm stood at 47.89%. In the previous presidential election in 2015, the number at 5 pm, as given by the State Electoral Commission, was 20.51%

According to the Commission, the highest number of voters was recorded in the central Mazovian voivodship. Sylwester Marciniak said that first place went to Mazovia: 55.55 %. Second - Lesser Poland with 54.58 % and third - Łódź voivodship with 52,96 %

Record turnout was reported at midday at the seaside resort of Krynica Morska: 52.36 %.

The State Electoral Commission also informed of a bigger turnout abroad than for the first round of the elections two weeks ago. Some 150 thousand people more registered to vote outside Poland, by postal vote as well as in person. Commission chairman Sylwester Marciniak told a press conference that this meant an increase of up to 30 %

"What this will be in total is hard to say because there are countries like the USA, Britain, France, where only postal voting was possible, so we'll see how many vote packages are returned" he said.

As he said, for instance in the town of Split in Croatia, where it was possible to vote in person, the number of voters multiplied tenfold.
