The shipment was transferred to the warehouses of the Government Strategic Reserves Agency, from where it will be distributed to pharmaceutical wholesalers and then to vaccination sites across the country, state broadcaster TVP Info reported.

Later this week, Poland expects to receive deliveries of coronavirus vaccines from other drug makers, including AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson, Michał Kuczmierowski, head of the Government Strategic Reserves Agency, told the media.

More than 7,000 vaccination sites are now available to citizens as the country ramps up its COVID-19 inoculation campaign, according to the prime minister's top aide, Michał Dworczyk, who is spearheading the drive.

Poland last month launched a pilot network of 16 mass COVID-19 vaccination centres, one in each province.

Ultimately, around 600 such facilities were expected to be set up across the country.

A network of drive-thru immunization sites is also available to citizens.

By Sunday, a total of 13,670,541 COVID-19 vaccine shots had been administered in Poland, according to government data.

Poland on Sunday reported 3,852 new coronavirus infections and 147 more deaths, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 2,833,052 and fatalities to 70,012.
