“In Poland we will be thanking the Polish government for their hospitality to refugees and learning from them what more needs to be done,” Pelosi on Sunday told reporters upon her arrival in the Polish southeastern city of Rzeszów.

Pelosi added that Ukraine's needs was also a topic of their talks with president Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev earlier in the day.

“Our delegation will now continue our travels in Poland, where we will meet with President Andrzej Duda and senior officials," Pelosi wrote in a statement issued by her office on Sunday.

“We look forward to thanking our Polish allies for their dedication and humanitarian efforts,” it added.

Pelosi also wrote that while in Poland, her delegation will “proudly convey the gratitude of America for the work of U.S. service members and diplomats and other civilian leaders in Poland.”

While in Kiev earlier on Sunday, Pelosi met with President Zelensky. She said the meeting was to send the message that the United States stands firmly with Ukraine as it battles the Russian invasion.

Pelosi said that Zelensky had made clear that Ukraine needed more security, economic and humanitarian aid "to address the devastating human toll taken on the Ukrainian people by Putin's diabolic invasion".

"Our delegation proudly delivered the message that additional American support is on the way," Pelosi said.

On Friday, she said she hoped to pass a 33 billion dollar aid package for Ukraine requested by President Joe Biden as soon as possible - a dramatic escalation of U.S. funding for Ukraine more than two months after Russia launched its invasion.

Sunday is day 67 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
