He was speaking after a meeting on Thursday in Prague that brought together prime ministers from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, which together form the four-nation regional Visegrad Group (V4).
Leaders from Western Balkan states also took part in the meeting.
Earlier this week, the president-elect of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, unveiled her picks for new EU commissioners.
Poland is expected to get the agriculture portfolio in the new-look European Commission.
Meanwhile, Hungary is likely to secure the post of EU enlargement commissioner, and Slovakia and the Czech Republic should each have a vice president.
The new European Commission team still needs approval from the European Parliament before the nominees can take up their posts.
