The Pole, named as Marian Radzajewski, was in June convicted by a lower court in Moscow after security officials said they caught him attempting to smuggle parts of a Russian S-300 missile system to Poland, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported, citing Russia's state news service Tass.
Under Russian law, such components serve a military purpose and their design is a state secret, the IAR news agency reported.
It cited Russia's FSB as saying earlier this year that the Pole was working for an organisation that is a "supplier for the national armed forces."
Polish diplomats in Moscow have offered no comment, the IAR news agency said.
