UK sends new Ambassador to Poland

Ms Anna Clunes has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Poland in succession to Mr Jonathan Knott, who ends his four-year mission.

Clunes is a career diplomat. Her latest post was that of Director at the Department for Exiting the European Union. She earlier served as Director of Economic Diplomacy and Director of Protocol at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Between 1996 and 2000 Clunes worked as Second Secretary at the UK Embassy in Warsaw.

"I’m honoured to be appointed Ambassador and delighted to be returning to Poland, a key UK partner. I look forward to leading the brilliant team," she wrote on her twitter on Friday. 

She also held positions at the UK Permanent Representation to the EU and the UK Mission to the United Nations.

She takes up her ambassadorial appointment to Poland in September.

Clunes is married, with two sons.
