Lithuanian PM to receive state order from Polish president

Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis is scheduled to hold talks in Warsaw on Tuesday on cooperation between his country and Poland at bilateral, regional and international level.

Skvernelis is to meet Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at around 4pm, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Later he will meet President Andrzej Duda, who will hand the Lithuanian premier one of Poland’s highest state decorations - the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.

Skvernelis will receive the honour in recognition of his services and contribution to strengthening dialogue between Poland and its eastern neighbour Lithuania, state news agency PAP reported.

Duda will be meeting Skvernelis fresh after his victory in the second, runoff round of Poland’s presidential election.
