Polish FM congratulates Blinken on being confirmed as US state secretary

Poland’s Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau sent his congratulations after Antony Blinken was approved as the new US secretary of state on Tuesday.

“Congratulations and best wishes of success to Antony Blinken upon confirmation as Secretary of State,” Rau said in a Twitter post.

“Looking forward to our future cooperation and deepening Polish-US partnership,” he added.

The US Senate on Tuesday confirmed Blinken as America’s top diplomat, tasked with carrying out President Joe Biden’s pledge to work more closely with allies after the Trump administration's "America First" approach to foreign affairs, the Reuters news agency reported.

Blinken has vowed to work to revitalize damaged American diplomacy and build a united front to counter challenges posed by Russia, China and Iran, according to Reuters.
