Poland denies flying near border with Belarus

Polish aircraft did not fly near the border with neighbouring Belarus on Monday evening, the defence ministry in Warsaw has said, responding to a claim by Kiev that its airspace had been violated.

The Belarusian defence ministry said that an unidentified airborne "object" breached that country's airspace on April 12 at 7:45 pm Polish time, and then headed back in the direction of Poland.

A military attaché from the Polish embassy in Minsk was summoned to the Belarusian defence ministry on Tuesday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

"He was informed that this fact must be investigated and the Belarusian side informed of the results," PAP cited the Belarusian defence ministry as saying in a statement.
