Zbigniew Rau will meet with Turkey’s Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Romania’s Bogdan Aurescu in the Turkish city on Friday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Ukraine war, NATO enlargement, Polish-Turkish-Romanian cooperation
The three-way talks are set to focus on political, military and economic assistance to Ukraine, the Polish foreign ministry’s spokesman, Łukasz Jasina, said in a statement.
Other topics on the agenda include the security crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the planned enlargement of NATO to include Finland and Sweden, and the expansion of Polish-Turkish-Romanian cooperation, reporters were told.
Rau is also set to hold bilateral meetings with Turkish and Romanian officials, Jasina said.
Last week, Sweden and Finland officially applied to join the NATO alliance in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Turkey said at the time it would vote against the admission of the two Nordic states.
Enlargement of the Western military alliance requires the consent of all 30 existing members.
Thursday is day 92 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
