In a poignant interview with Reuters, World Central Kitchen head Jose Andres has accused Israeli forces of systematically targeting his aid workers in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals.

"They were targeting us in a deconflicted zone, in an area controlled by IDF. They knew that it was our teams moving on that road ... with three cars," Andres told Reuters, rejecting the notion of an accidental strike.

"This was not just a bad luck situation where ‘oops’ we dropped the bomb in the wrong place," Andres emphasized. He highlighted the humanitarian convoy's clear markings and prior communications with the Israeli military about their movements.

Despite Israel's military acknowledging the attack as a “mistake” and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressing "severe sorrow" and labeling the event unintentional, Andres remains unconvinced and demands thorough investigations.

Andres also criticized the conflicting roles of the United States in providing humanitarian aid through his organization while supplying arms to Israel. Speaking to President Joe Biden on Tuesday, Andres said that "the U.S. must do more to tell Prime Minister Netanyahu this war needs to end now."

"It's very complicated to understand ... America is going to be sending its Navy and its military to do humanitarian work, but at the same time weapons provided by America ... are killing civilians," he told Reuters.

Will WCK return to supplying aid in Gaza?

According to reports, WCK was still studying the safety situation in Gaza, considering starting aid deliveries again.

Australian, British, American, and Polish citizens were among seven World Central Kitchen aid workers killed.

According to the United Nations, at least 196 humanitarian workers have lost their lives in Gaza since October, when Hamas reignited the conflict with a massive attack that killed over 1,200 people.

Hamas has previously accused Israel of targeting aid distribution sites, Reuters reported.
