The estimate for July was the lowest figure for that month since 1991.

"This is a very good result and great news. Since 1991, the unemployment rate in July has never been so low," Borys-Szopa told reporters.

There were 869,300 people without jobs at the end of July, down by 7,800 from June, according preliminary figures from Poland’s labour and social policy ministry.

Poland's unemployment rate is expected to fall to 5.1 percent at the end of 2020 under a set of budget targets adopted by the country's government in June.
