Unemployment in Poland held steady at 5.5 percent in February, unchanged from January, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Tuesday.

The figure was in line with an earlier estimate by the country’s labour ministry.

There were around 919,900 people without jobs at the end of February, down from 922,200 a month earlier, according to the government-run statistics agency.

The European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, said earlier this month that unemployment in Poland was a modest 2.9 percent in January, the second-lowest rate in the 27-nation European Union.
