Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Belgium boasted the fastest year-on-year growth in industrial production in the EU in October, at 5.4 percent, while Croatia trailed Poland in third place, with 2.8 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.
Among member states for which data were available, Ireland reported the steepest year-on-year decline in industrial production in October, at 15.5 percent, while Danish industrial production decreased by 9.2 percent, marking the second-biggest drop in the bloc, the agency's data showed.
Eurostat reported that industrial production in the EU as a whole fell by 3.1 percent in October in year-on-year terms, while the euro area recorded a 3.8 percent drop.
Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS), which uses a different methodology, reported last month that Polish industrial production rose by 1 percent in October compared with the same month a year earlier.
